Who We Are
About Us
Identity is a word that awakens different emotions in different people. For some, identity is associated with belonging, tradition, and pride. For others, identity is related to limitations, shame, and a judgment that defines their future.
When limiting social constructs become negative ideations in a child’s mind and is passed on through generations, a belief system is not only created, but perpetuated. The belief is that your identity determines what you can or can’t become.
AAFRICA (Academic Achievement Federation for the RE-Education and Inspiration of the Children of Africa) was born to help African American children break the chains that bind them to these self-limiting beliefs.
Mission
Our mission is to develop African American children into confident, free-thinking adults to help them create a better future, for themselves and their communities.
We know the success of our communities rely on the hearts and minds of our youngest members, but most importantly, we know their reach will be relegated to mere potential without a solid foundation. We are here to build the foundation they will use to support their future actions.
To manifest our vision, we have gathered a team of cause-driven and experienced learning facilitators to help us lay this foundation brick by brick. Together, we will inspire and empower our children to create a world that not only values their collective contributions, but embraces them.
