Our Work
What We Do
We are working to create a network of private schools, designed to develop African American children into highly skilled, free-thinking, and self-sufficient adults. Starting with preschool enrollment, we will go beyond child care, with a strong focus on familial nurturing, hands-on learning, and cultural affirmation for African American children.
We will work to develop the “whole child” by helping them build practical life skills unique to the experience of black and brown people. Our goal is to grow and empower free-thinking children with positive self-images and pride in their heritage.
Problem
- Traditional American schools were not established to cater to a black student population.
- 0 is the number of schools in Connecticut with a curriculum specifically designed to address the unique social & cultural needs of black youth.
- Children who are not confident in their abilities and lack positive self-images are less likely to grow into capable, self-loving adults.
Solution
We are developing a private school system, that starts with preschool enrollment at a flat tuition rate of $150 weekly.
- This is 40%-80% lower than the average cost of private school for this grade level in the state of CT.
- Our low tuition rates will ensure the organization is self-sustaining and accessible.
- Our tax-exempt status will facilitate the expansion of essential programs and services.
But, why? What we stand for
While we will open our first location in New Haven County, this is bigger than one town. We do this for every African American child who has suffered from racial disparities in the school system. We do this, together, with the families, companies, and governments across the nation who are calling for a change to close the race gap at all levels of society.
We are seeking passionate and experienced partners to support this cause…
Men and women of action who truly believe that a brighter and more inclusive future is possible.
